About the Company

The Youth in Agroecology and Restoration Network (YARN) is a network of youth and youth-led civil society groups, farmers, scientists, and activists from the Global South. Our collective focus is on harnessing the principles of agroecology and best practices to champion the right to healthy food, restore soil health, and align agrifood systems with the landscape restoration, biodiversity conservation, and climate adaptation agenda, and the global sustainable development goals. Its members engage with a spectrum of critical food-related issues, spanning nutrition, inequality
and social justice, environmental justice, resilience, and livelihoods, aligned with global agreements and processes. YARN has a network of over 20 youth groups across 18 countries, mostly in Africa and Asia-Pacific.

We seek a dedicated Programme Manager to join the YARN Secretariat and support our ambitious, transformative agenda.

Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and committed Programme Manager – Agroecology and Community Development to lead the design, implementation, and growth of our agroecology and community development programmes. The Programme Manager will oversee field-based initiatives, manage the agroecology farm as a programmatic resource, coordinate stakeholders, and ensure high-quality programme delivery aligned with our mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Leadership and Management
• Lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of agroecology and community development programmes
• Ensure programme activities align with organisational strategy, agroecological principles, and community needs
• Develop annual work plans, budgets, and reports for internal and external stakeholders Agroecology Farm Oversight
• Provide strategic and operational oversight of the organisation’s agroecology farm
• Ensure the farm functions as a demonstration, training, and learning site
• Coordinate farm staff, interns, volunteers, and visiting groups

Community Engagement and Capacity Building
• Work closely with communities, farmer groups, and local partners to co-design and implement activities
• Support training, workshops, and participatory learning processes in agroecology and sustainable livelihoods
• Strengthen community leadership, inclusion, and ownership of programmes 

Partnerships and Resource Mobilisation
• Build and maintain relationships with NGOs, research institutions, donors, and government stakeholders in Nigeria and beyond.
• Contribute to proposal development, donor reporting, and documentation of impact Team Management
• Supervise programme staff and consultants
• Foster a collaborative, values-driven, and learning-oriented team culture

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Agroecology, Agriculture, Rural Development, Agroforestry or a related field (Master’s degree an advantage).
• Minimum 1 year of experience managing community-based development or sustainable agriculture-related programmes.
• Strong understanding of agroecological principles and participatory development approaches
• Demonstrated experience working with rural communities and smallholder farmers
• Proven programme management, budgeting, and reporting skills
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills

Desirable Attributes
• Experience managing or working with an agroforestry, organic farms
• Knowledge of food systems, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods
• Ability to work independently and in resource-constrained environments
• Commitment to social justice, ecological sustainability, and community empowerment
