The Communications Intern will support the Nigeria country team in delivering Tearfund's communications activities. This internship is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in storytelling, media engagement, content creation, and strategic communication in a humanitarian and development context.

  • Salary: ₦77,000 monthly stipend

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the production of stories, photos, and videos that highlight Tearfund's work and impact
  • Assist with the production of social media content, newsletters, and website updates
  • Support media monitoring and prepare basic communications reports if necessary
  • Help organise events, campaigns, or visibility activities
  • Learn from and assist the Communications Unit and wider team in strategic communication planning
  • Support the development of content for campaigns and donor communications as needed

Required Skills

  • Recently completed a degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in humanitarian, development, or faith-based work
  • Creativity and willingness to learn
  • Alignment with Tearfund's Christian values and ethical standards
  • Oral and written proficiency in the primary working local language
  • Fluent and competent in written and spoken English
  • Good organisational and scheduling skills
  • Computer literate – experience with Word, Excel; accounting software (Peachtree) preferable
  • Ability to communicate confidently about personal faith
  • Ability and commitment to apply biblical principles prayerfully
  • Outstanding organisational and investigative abilities
  • Good interpersonal attitude, calm, confident, assertive, and welcoming
  • Attention to hygiene, able to take initiative and be flexible
  • Committed Evangelical Christian
  • Humanitarian and Christian motivation
  • Committed to an Evangelical Christian church
  • Open to corrections and suggestions
  • Basic photography, graphic design, and video editing skills (desirable)
  • Familiarity with social media management (desirable)
  • Knowledge of Nigerian languages (Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo) is an advantage
