Job Description

The Credit Officer will execute debt collection strategies, conduct field visits to delinquent accounts, evaluate new loan applications, and negotiate payment plans while acquiring new SME clients in e-commerce, consumer goods, healthcare, and financial services sectors within the organisation’s South West operations.

The organization seeks field-oriented Credit Officers to manage debt collection, drive loan portfolio growth, and support micro-business clients across the South West region while balancing customer needs with organizational risk management within their Abeokuta hub.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end debt collection processes including telephone calls, emails, and physical business visits
  • Develop and recommend tailored payment plans to eliminate client debt within agreed timeframes per collections policy
  • Accurately maintain client records and determine appropriate collection actions for each past-due account
  • Compile daily, weekly, and monthly reports on delinquency status, collection activity, and receivables
  • Report collection progress to supervisors with actionable recommendations for next steps or write-offs
  • Present, promote, and sell Lendha products using strong negotiation skills to existing and prospective SME clients
  • Support credit appraisal evaluations and ensure proper documentation before loan disbursement
  • Monitor active accounts to identify emerging risks and outstanding debts proactively
  • Review contract terms with clients and clearly communicate available payment options
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to balance customer flexibility with Lendha’s risk appetite

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree or HND from accredited institution with NYSC Discharge Certificate or Exclusion Letter
  • Must currently reside in Abeokuta, Ogun State (Strict Requirement)
  • Good relationship-building and communication skills with strong team spirit
  • Strong analytical capabilities for assessing creditworthiness and repayment capacity
  • Proficient computer skills for reporting and CRM management
  • Genuine motivation to thrive in performance-based environment with measurable targets
  • Demonstrated taste for fieldwork and willingness to visit businesses regularly
  • Knowledge of major local languages (Yoruba strongly preferred) advantageous for client engagement
