Beyond Beans is based out of the Netherlands and has operations in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Ecuador, Cameroon and Togo. We support more than 100,000 rural farmer households with training on agroforestry practices and regenerative agriculture, provision of seedlings, and cash premiums. Our multidisciplinary team of specialists, experts, and field staff have experience in topics such as climate-smart agroforestry, community development and promoting gender equity.

Job Description

We are looking for a Data Analyst based in Akure, Ondo State, to support the implementation and monitoring of our digital agricultural systems. The role involves collecting, managing, and analyzing data to generate insights, as well as supporting field-level activities that improve farm productivity and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of data sets collected by field officers through MergData.
  • Through analysis on:
    • First layer: high over check on data quality
    • Second layer: in depth check on data quality through interpretation.
  • Overseeing annual surveying activities related to certification, namely farmer registration, farm profiling and farm inspection and training attendance.
  • Overseeing GPS mapping and data transfer of shape files to the central database, as well as conducting analyses on the polygon data with GIS software.
  • Conduct polygon and deforestation analysis for all plots in the Beyond Beans supply chain
  • Ensure geolocation information on all plots of production.
  • Ensure GPS data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Verify and update existing maps to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Follow-up with field officers on data quality issues.
  • Create and manage trackers and dashboard for Group Member Registry (GMR) survey.

Required Skills

  • A well-motivated and proactive person
  • B.Sc. degree or Higher Diploma in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or any other Social Science related courses with a minimum of 2 years post-NYSC experience. 
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing data sets and data visualisation (Excel, SPSS, SAS, STATA, GIS, Power BI etc.) and database design and management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail.
  • Proficient at queries, report writing, and presentation of findings.
  • The position will be based in Akure with occasional field trip visits to project areas.
  • Proficiency in GIS software, GPS equipment, and remote sensing technologies.
  • Ability to accurately collect, record, and manage data, and ensure data quality and completeness.
  • Ability to communicate technical information and data to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a changing and dynamic environment and adapt to new technologies and approaches.
  • Basic knowledge and skills in general agriculture, especially cocoa farm management/agroforestry
  • Experience with field data collection and GPS equipment, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
