The Data Engineer will design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines using ETL and ELT methodologies, implement real-time data streaming solutions (Kafka, Debezium, Kafka Connect), build workflows using Apache Airflow, work with various database technologies (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redshift, BigQuery, SingleStore), employ infrastructure as code (Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm), maintain CI/CD pipelines, conduct testing, collaborate with cross-functional teams, maintain documentation, and participate in on-call rotation for system monitoring and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines using ETL and ELT methodologies.
  • Implement and manage real-time data streaming solutions using Kafka, Debezium, and Kafka Connect.
  • Build, schedule, and maintain custom workflows using Apache Airflow.
  • Work with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL), NoSQL (MongoDB), and analytical systems (Redshift, BigQuery, SingleStore).
  • Employ Terraform, Kubernetes, and Helm for infrastructure management.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
  • Conduct unit and integration testing for code quality and data integrity.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams (data scientists, analysts, business stakeholders).
  • Maintain clear documentation of data processes and systems.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for system monitoring and fault resolution.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proficiency in Python (JavaScript and Scala advantageous).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in data engineering roles (building and managing data pipelines).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in software and/or application development roles (can be concurrent).
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka, Debezium, and Kafka Connect.
  • Proficiency in a data pipeline orchestration tool (Apache Airflow preferred, Databricks, Dagster, or Airbyte).
  • Strong understanding of MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redshift (BigQuery and SingleStore advantageous).
  • Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, and Helm.
  • Solid knowledge of cloud computing concepts (AWS services advantageous).
  • Ability to write complex SQL queries across different dialects.
  • Familiarity with unit and integration testing methodologies.
  • Experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exposure to analytical systems and basic data science tooling.
  • Exposure to self-service reporting tools like Tableau, Looker, and DOMO.
