Job Description

The Driver will be responsible for providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for FHI 360 UK-Nigeria staff, consultants, visitors, equipment, and program materials within Abuja and its environs, supporting official movements between the Country Office, partner offices, government institutions, airports, hotels, and other approved locations.

FHI 360 UK-Nigeria is the wholly owned subsidiary of FHI 360 UK, which is itself a wholly owned subsidiary of FHI 360. The company was incorporated in 2026 to carry on the business of programme implementation, project management, and the provision of advisory, technical, and support services in relation to humanitarian, development, public health, educational, and social impact initiatives, including the execution and management of projects funded by governmental, multilateral, bilateral, or private institutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Check the vehicle prior to its use in the morning and after use.
  • Ensure checks upon taking over a vehicle that items on the vehicle checklist are present and functioning.
  • Report defects/damage immediately.
  • Submit monthly mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance reports.
  • Ensure all vehicle journeys are authorized in advance.
  • Record every movement in the logbook at the start and completion of the journey.
  • Ensure vehicle documents including insurance are valid at all times.
  • Ensure keys and vehicle documents are kept in a secure place when the vehicle is not in use.
  • Ensure the use of seat belts by all on board before moving the vehicle.
  • Drive vehicles on the approved speed limit on different routes and abide by fleet policy.
  • Report all incidents/accidents immediately, including near misses.
  • Always ensure the safety of passengers.
  • Keep to security protocol and warning.
  • Support logistics/warehouse assistant as required.

Required Skills

  • Must have qualified SSCE/NECO Certificate Examination.
  • 4 years working experience as a driver with reputable organizations (INGOs, Corporate, Government).
  • Experience as a mechanic or auto-electrician is desirable.
  • Experience working in the North-central is desirable.
  • Possession of valid National driving license mandatory.
  • Excellent verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Able to communicate in English and Hausa.
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
