The Goethe-Institut Nigeria is seeking a Finance and Administrative Assistant (Sachbearbeiter Verwaltung - SBV) to join the team. This is a full-time fixed-term position for two years.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts payable tasks:

  • Allocation of invoices to appropriate cost centers on invoice processing software
  • Ensuring financial compliance by checking invoices and supporting documents
  • Ensuring all transactions adhere fully to internal procurement regulations
  • Deduction of withholding taxes on eligible transactions
  • Posting into the general ledger
  • Fixed asset accounting and inventory management
  • Monitoring and settlement of outstanding items in close coordination with all departments and the Head of Finance & Administration

Other financial and administrative tasks:

  • Procurement coordination for the Finance & Administrative department
  • Support with internal and external audits
  • Providing support for monthly accounts closing activities and preparation of both local and German annual financial statements
  • Tasks exceptionally assigned by the Head of Finance & Administration, the Institute Director, or their representatives

Required Skills

  • University degree
  • Several years of relevant professional experience in financial and administrative tasks
  • Knowledge of financial accounting (SAP skills are an advantage)
  • Excellent IT skills, especially MS Office (particularly Excel)
  • Reliability, accuracy, and the ability to work independently
  • Experience in dealing and communicating with service providers and local authorities
  • Work experience in international companies or NGOs is an advantage
  • Good knowledge of German or willingness to learn German
