Job Description

A Hostel Administrator is urgently needed for a client in the education sector in Lekki, Lagos. The role involves overseeing day-to-day hostel operations, supervising staff, ensuring student safety and well-being, managing student check-in and check-out, handling complaints and conflict resolution, enforcing rules, conducting inspections, maintaining records, responding to emergencies, and providing operational reports. The successful candidate must be willing to reside within the hostel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day hostel operations and ensure smooth running
  • Supervise and coordinate staff (security, cleaners, maintenance)
  • Ensure safety, security, and overall well-being of students
  • Manage student check-in/check-out and room allocation
  • Handle student complaints, welfare issues, and conflict resolution
  • Enforce hostel rules, policies, and disciplinary procedures
  • Conduct routine inspections of rooms and common areas
  • Monitor facility condition and coordinate repairs and maintenance
  • Maintain accurate records of occupancy, incidents, and operations
  • Respond to emergencies and manage crisis situations effectively
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and community-focused environment
  • Liaise with management and provide regular operational reports

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in hostel or residential facility management
  • Proven experience managing residential facilities and supervising teams
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Good conflict resolution and stakeholder management ability
  • High level of emotional intelligence and professionalism
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle emergencies
  • Must be willing to reside within the hostel
  • Preferred industry experience: student accommodation/hostel management, universities or boarding schools, residential property or facility management, hospitality (hostels, serviced apartments)
