Job Description

The Junior Video Editor will support the development of engaging video content for Labile's client services and owned media brands. This role is suited to a detail-oriented editor who is building strong practical experience and is excited to learn and grow within a fast-paced creative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit raw video footage into clear, engaging, and platform-appropriate content under the guidance of the senior video editor or creative lead.
  • Organise footage, project files, audio, graphics, and other editing assets.
  • Create rough cuts and final edits for short-form videos, social media content, interviews, campaign assets, behind-the-scenes content, and branded content.
  • Apply clean cuts, seamless transitions, well-timed visuals, basic motion elements, and properly synchronised audio.
  • Select suitable footage, music, sound effects, captions, and supporting visual elements.
  • Resize and adapt approved video content for different platforms and formats.
  • Add subtitles, text overlays, lower thirds, logos, and other basic graphics.
  • Review each edit carefully for errors before submitting it for review.
  • Implement feedback accurately and promptly.
  • Manage assigned video tasks across multiple projects and meet agreed deadlines.
  • Collaborate with creative, content, marketing, strategy, and production teams.
  • Assist during shoots when required.
  • Stay informed about relevant video formats, editing styles, and platform requirements.
  • Support the senior video editor with editing preparation, versioning, exports, and other post-production tasks.

Required Skills

  • At least 2 years of practical experience editing video content through agency employment, freelance projects, internships, or media production. Personal projects do not apply.
  • A portfolio, showreel, or selection of sample edits demonstrating an understanding of pacing, storytelling, composition, audio, transitions, captions, and platform-specific content.
  • Working knowledge of at least one professional video editing tool, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or a comparable platform.
  • Familiarity with After Effects, Photoshop, or other design and motion tools is a strong advantage.
  • A good understanding of short-form social content and the differences between editing for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and correct visual, audio, spelling, timing, and formatting errors.
  • Ability to follow creative direction, receive feedback professionally, and make revisions with care and speed.
  • Good organisation and file-management habits.
  • Willingness to learn, experiment, and improve technical and creative skills.
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree/HND.
  • Must have completed NYSC.
