Job Description

Clinix Healthcare is seeking a skilled and reliable Locum Medical Laboratory Technician to join our diagnostics team on a 3-month contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute to high-quality patient care through accurate laboratory testing, with strong potential for transition to a permanent full-time role based on performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, label, and prepare patient specimens (blood, urine, swabs, etc.) following proper phlebotomy and collection techniques. 
• Perform routine laboratory tests including hematology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis, and basic microbiology procedures under supervision. 
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, perform basic calibrations, and carry out daily quality control checks. 
• Accurately record test results, prepare reports, and ensure timely communication of critical results to clinicians. 
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards in the laboratory in line with infection control and biosafety protocols. 
• Assist in stock management of reagents, consumables, and proper disposal of biohazardous waste. 
• Support the laboratory team during peak periods and ensure smooth workflow in a fast-paced clinical environment

Required Skills

• Registered Medical Laboratory Technician with a valid practicing license. 
• Hands-on experience in phlebotomy, sample processing, and performing routine diagnostic tests. 
• Good technical skills, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy in results. 
• Ability to work efficiently under time pressure and manage multiple tasks. 
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with patients and colleagues. 
• Reliable, punctual, and adaptable to a locum/rotational schedule. 
• Team player with a patient-centered approach.

Qualifications
• Diploma or Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology/Science from an accredited institution. 
• Valid registration and practicing license from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN). 
• Minimum of 1 year of post-qualification experience in a clinical laboratory setting. 
• Previous locum or contract experience is an advantage but not required.

Applicants must reside in Abule Egba or within a commutable distance.

This is a 3-month locum contract with the strong possibility of conversion to a full-time position for the right candidate.
