Job Description

The FUCAP Legal Intern will support legal operations by reviewing and managing legal documents, drafting letters, maintaining legal records, supporting the legal approval process, attending court proceedings, conducting legal research, and assisting with corporate events and audits.

  • Job Location: Lagos State
  • Employment Type: Internship (1 Year)
  • Working Hours: 8am – 5pm (Mondays – Fridays)
  • Stipend: ₦140,000 monthly (Gross)

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and manage legal documents to ensure they are accurate and complete.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing letters, including demand letters, regulatory correspondence, and communications with external solicitors.
  • Maintain and update electronic records of contracts, letters, and other legal documents.
  • File and organize legal documents, including court processes and regulatory correspondence.
  • Review vendor documents and flag issues or discrepancies where necessary.
  • Support the legal approval process for new customers and partners.
  • Track and update litigation hearing dates and case schedules.
  • Attend court proceedings when required and prepare summaries or reports.
  • Help coordinate internal witnesses for legal proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and assist in preparing legal opinions.
  • Monitor and report on changes in law and regulations that may affect the business.
  • Take minutes during weekly meetings and share updates with the team.
  • Track progress of action items and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Support planning and coordination of AGM and other corporate events.
  • Compile and maintain litigation data, including case details and status.
  • Support the team during audit processes by preparing and submitting required information.

Required Skills

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B).
  • Must be a serving or completed NYSC Corps Member.
  • Must have completed Law school.
  • Basic knowledge of corporate, commercial, and litigation processes.
  • Ability to support legal research, drafting, and document review.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance and legal documentation standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to prepare structured reports, meeting minutes, and legal documents.
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive.
  • Good organizational, coordination, and tracking skills to manage multiple tasks and follow up on action items with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), coordination, and teamwork skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work full-time for the duration of 1 year.
