Job Description

We are seeking a qualified and proactive Legal and Compliance Officer to provide legal support to the organization and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The role will be responsible for handling legal documentation, contracts, regulatory matters, and providing day-to-day legal advisory support to management and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and support to management on corporate and operational matters
  • Draft, review, and vet contracts, agreements, and legal documents
  • Handle company legal documentation, filings, and regulatory correspondence
  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian laws, regulatory requirements, and company policies
  • Liaise with external solicitors, regulators, and government agencies when required
  • Support contract negotiations and ensure legal risks are properly managed
  • Manage legal records, documentation, and case files
  • Monitor legal developments and advise the company on potential impacts
  • Assist in handling disputes, claims, and legal proceedings involving the company
  • Support HR and management on labour law matters and disciplinary cases
  • Prepare legal reports and updates for management
  • Provide guidance on corporate governance and compliance matters

Required Skills

  • LL.B and BL (Called to the Nigerian Bar)
  • Minimum of 3+ years post-call experience in a corporate, commercial, or law firm environment
  • Good knowledge of Nigerian corporate, commercial, and labour laws
  • Experience in contract drafting and review
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple legal matters
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal documentation
