Our client, Nigeria’s leading private-sector natural gas distributor, is seeking an experienced Managing Director to drive the growth and profitability of the business, primarily within the West African region, and strategically across other parts of Africa.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing sales, product, and marketing strategies; managing gas pipeline and power sales; and building strong relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders.

Minimum of 20 years of experience in the oil and gas and/or power sectors, with at least 15 years in a leadership role.
- First degree in Engineering, Economics, or any relevant technical or business discipline; a Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) is preferred.
- Proven track record of driving business growth in sales or business development leadership roles within the energy sector.
- Demonstrated experience in new business venturing, diversification, and opportunity maturation, with a strong record of project delivery and execution.
- Relevant industry experience in the energy sector, particularly in midstream gas distribution; exposure to adjacent sectors such as power and renewables is an advantage.
- Experience operating in emerging markets, with established relationships across West Africa, especially in Francophone countries.
- Strong stakeholder management experience; prior engagement with private equity or financial sponsor shareholders is advantageous.
- Experience in identifying, preparing, and delivering mergers and acquisitions (M&A) opportunities will be a plus.
