DoistNigeriaFull-Time

About the Company

Doist is a multidisciplinary, fully-remote team passionate about creating products like Todoist and Twist that improve people's lives. The company thrives on innovating new solutions to old productivity challenges and seeks to rethink how productivity tools are made. Doist's core values are Ambition, Mastery, Independence, and Communication.

Job Description

At Doist, design is woven into how we build, not just a handoff step. The multidisciplinary Design team shapes the end-to-end experience across the product suite: Todoist (flagship task and project manager used by millions), Automations (workflow builder), and a Communications app for async team communication. The team works across every platform (iOS, Android, Web, and Desktop). As an IC4+ Product Designer, you will be embedded in product squads tackling real challenges: designing productivity features, evolving the design system across platforms, and helping products become the tool of choice for individuals and teams alike.

  • Job Location: Remote
  • Salary: Formula-based salaries calculated on industry-benchmarked skills and geographical location (no negotiation required)
  • Employment Type: Not stated
  • Benefits: Work remotely and mostly async from anywhere, design your own schedule (8-hour days, max 40 hours/week), competitive pay, recurring education budget, team and company-wide retreats, monthly coworking space stipend, monthly budget for work apps/services, recurring budget for work equipment, 8 weeks (40 days) vacation per year, 5 weeks paid parental leave + 13 weeks paid pregnancy-related medical leave, monthly wellness budget (gym, healthy snacks, massages, health insurance, etc.)
  • Application Deadline: 27 April 2026 at 14:00 UTC

Key Responsibilities

  • Design intuitive, beautiful, and consistent experiences across iOS, Android, Web, and Desktop
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and marketers within cross-functional squads
  • Contribute to and maintain the shared design system and component library
  • Use data, user insights, and direct user conversations to validate and improve design decisions
  • Use tools like Claude, Cursor, and similar AI tools to prototype, write code, and ship, actively closing the gap between design intent and working product
  • Find new ways to improve how design and development collaborate, through tooling and process
  • Help define and evolve the product vision alongside the broader design team
  • Stay ahead of platform guidelines (iOS HIG, Material Design, Web standards) to bring the best of each platform to products

Required Skills

  • A portfolio showing strong visual design and UX thinking, with multi-platform work (mobile and web)
  • Experience shipping real product features, not just concepts
  • Comfort working across platform guidelines (iOS, Android, Web) and knowing when to follow them versus when to break them intentionally
  • Experience working with and contributing to design systems or component libraries
  • Using AI tools like Claude and/or Cursor to prototype ideas, write and ship code, and move faster from concept to working product
  • A drive to find better ways to bridge design and development through tooling, process changes, or shared workflows, and the initiative to actually propose and test them
  • Ability to communicate design decisions clearly in writing, in critique, and in collaboration with engineers
  • Excellent communication skills, both visual and written
  • Alignment with Doist's mission, vision, and values
  • Experience working in a remote, async-first environment or willingness to adapt to this working style

How You Work

  • Genuinely curious about design, technology, people, and the world
  • Writes well in an async-first, remote environment
  • Takes ownership and moves projects forward with minimal direction
  • Involves users through research and usage data
  • Thrives in a collaborative team environment
  • Cares about quality without perfectionism that blocks shipping

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with motion and animation as a design tool (micro-interactions, transitions)
