The Public Health Assistant will conduct health education sessions in communities, schools, markets, churches, and mosques; educate community members on hygiene, nutrition, immunization, and malaria prevention; carry out house-to-house visits for health promotion; distribute health awareness materials; support public health campaigns and outreach programs; assist with immunization drives; support disease surveillance; and collect and maintain accurate health data.

  • Salary: ₦150,000 – ₦250,000 monthly + Comprehensive HMO coverage

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct health education sessions in communities, schools, markets, churches, and mosques.
  • Educate community members on hygiene, nutrition, immunization, malaria prevention, and other public health topics.
  • Carry out house-to-house visits for health promotion, case finding, and follow-up activities.
  • Distribute health awareness materials such as flyers, posters, and information leaflets.
  • Support the planning and execution of public health campaigns and outreach programs.
  • Assist with immunization drives and beneficiary registration.
  • Support disease surveillance efforts by identifying, reporting, and referring suspected cases of communicable diseases.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols during field activities.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain accurate health data and reports.
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating program outcomes.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office tools and mobile data collection applications for reporting.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of OND in Public Health, Community Health, Health Education, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • HND/B.Sc. in Public Health, Health Education, Sociology, Nursing, or related disciplines is an advantage.
  • NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate is required where applicable.
  • 0–1 year experience (internships, volunteering, and field experience are acceptable).
  • Experience in immunization campaigns, disease surveillance, or community mobilization is an advantage.
  • Ability to communicate health information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to speak English and at least one Nigerian local language is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Physically fit and comfortable with field-based assignments.
