The Research Supervisor will support the establishment and maintenance of demonstration plots and feed units while facilitating field data collection on animal performance and technology adoption. This 6-month renewable contract role involves coordinating training events, managing HQCP and BSFL production trials, and engaging directly with farmers and youth groups to drive the uptake of improved feed formulation practices within multidisciplinary research teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support establishment and maintenance of forage demonstration plots and feed units.
  • Facilitate demonstrations of improved feed formulation and feeding practices at TRUs and pilot farms.
  • Collect basic data on feed use, animal performance, and cost implications accurately.
  • Conduct routine field data collection on feed, forage, and dairy production metrics.
  • Record observations on technology adoption, farmer practices, and productivity changes.
  • Assist in data entry, cleaning, and validation using Excel or mobile data tools.
  • Organize field visits, trainings, and demonstration events for stakeholders.
  • Manage materials, tools, and inputs required for feed innovation activities.
  • Ensure availability and proper functioning of data collection tools and field equipment.
  • Engage effectively with farmers, youth groups, and local partners involved in feed innovation.
  • Maintain records of participants, beneficiaries, and training attendance.
  • Document field activities through notes, photos, and summaries for reporting.
  • Implement and monitor alternative feed technologies including HQCP, BSFL, and crop residue processing.

Required Skills

  • B.Sc./HND in Agriculture, Animal Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience performing similar roles in a well-structured environment.
  • Must be a Nigerian National.
  • Knowledge of livestock and dairy value chains.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational and planning capabilities for field operations.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within project locations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and mobile data collection tools.
