Job Description

We are hiring a Safety Officer to oversee and ensure compliance with safety protocols in our organisation.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing safety policies, conducting training, identifying risks, and promoting a culture of safety in the workplace.
Monitor and enforce safety standards across the factory floor and offices. Conduct regular risk assessments and safety inspections.
Train employees on workplace safety procedures and emergency protocols. Investigate and report incidents, accidents, or near-misses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Inspections & Risk Management: Conduct routine inspections, carry out risk assessments, identify hazards, and implement corrective measures
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure adherence to Nigeria’s HSE laws + ISO‑aligned HSE policies
  • Incident Reporting & Investigation: Promptly report incidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and develop preventative action plans.
  • Training & Toolbox Talks: Deliver regular HSE briefings, inductions, and refresher training for all warehouse and construction staff
  • Emergency Response & Drills: Prepare emergency response protocols for incidents like fire or spill disasters. Coordinate and facilitate drills.
  • PPE & Equipment Oversight: Ensure proper PPE use, MHE (e.g., forklifts) inspections, and pre-use checklists
  • Environmental Stewardship: Oversee waste handling, spill control, and housekeeping to minimize environmental impact.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain organized records: inspection checklists, incident logs, reports, and safety bulletins.
  • Continuous Improvement: Track HSE metrics, collaborate with management to enhance safety procedures and measures.

Required Skills

  • Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years HSE experience in warehouse, construction, or industrial setting
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian HSE regulations and ISO requirements.
  • Excellent communication, training, and report-writing skills.
  • Solid analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience in warehouse construction is a major advantage
