Job Description

The Scrum Master will play a critical role in facilitating Agile practices, ensuring the team adheres to Scrum principles, and fostering a collaborative and productive environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Agile methodologies, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of guiding teams to deliver high-quality software products. This role requires a servant-leader mindset, with a focus on empowering the team to achieve their goals and continuously improve.

 

Key Responsibilities

Scrum Facilitation:

  • Act as a servant leader and Scrum Master for one or more Agile teams, ensuring the team follows Scrum principles and practices.
  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives.
  • Guide the team in creating and maintaining a healthy Product Backlog, ensuring it is prioritized and refined.
  • Remove impediments and blockers that hinder the team’s progress, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.

Team Empowerment:

  • Coach and mentor team members on Agile principles, Scrum practices, and self-organization.
  • Support the Product Owner in backlog management, user story creation, and prioritization.
  • Encourage the team to take ownership of their work and commitments, promoting accountability and responsibility. 
  • Help the team identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and quality.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Act as a bridge between the development team and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment on goals and expectations.
  • Facilitate discussions and decision-making processes to resolve conflicts and ensure smooth project execution.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on team progress, risks, and dependencies.

Metrics and Reporting:

  • Track and report key Agile metrics, such as velocity, sprint burndown, and team capacity, to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Use data-driven insights to help the team optimize their performance and delivery.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Promote a culture of learning and experimentation, encouraging the team to adopt new tools, techniques, and best practices.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in Agile methodologies, sharing knowledge with the team and organization.
  • Facilitate retrospectives to identify actionable improvements and ensure they are implemented in subsequent sprints.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach in a software development environment.
  • Proven experience working with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum framework.
  • Familiarity with software development life cycles (SDLC) and DevOps practices.
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification.
  • Additional Agile certifications, such as SAFe Agilist (SA) or PMI-ACP, are a plus.
  • Experience scaling Agile practices in larger organizations (e.g., SAFe, LeSS, or Nexus).
  • Knowledge of Lean principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools
