The Vibe Coder/Product Designer will build new web applications and features, execute the end-to-end design and development process, and use AI-assisted tools to turn designs into functional websites.

Public Tech Studio builds open data and civic technology products for African cities—tools that help people navigate, understand, and improve the places they live. The small but mighty team is distributed in Nigeria and the United States, with a majority of work conducted remotely and a focus on Lagos.

• Design products: create user flows, prototypes, and polished user interfaces for web products.
• Talk to users: plan and run usability tests and feedback sessions.
• Build a design system: create and maintain a shared library of components and patterns.
• Ship working software: use AI-assisted development tools to turn designs into functional websites.
• Measure what happens next: use analytics to monitor user behavior and propose improvements.
• Contribute to product strategy: help decide what to build, for whom, and why.

• Genuine passion for civic technology and urban livability.
• Tech-savvy and quick to learn new tools and skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Great communication and interpersonal skills.
• Located in Nigeria; Lagos residents preferred.
• Nice to have: experience designing or building civic tech products; an eye for design; exposure to AI coding tools (Claude Code, Replit, Cursor, Lovable, v0); familiarity with data visualization, interactive maps, analytics, design systems, or mobile-first contexts.
