The Animal Welfare League works to improve farmed animal welfare across Africa, with a focus on chickens and fish, in Ghana, Morocco, South Africa, and Egypt. The organization commissions independent research on farmed animal welfare issues.

• Read completed research work (research proposals, economic analyses, scoping papers).
• Score the work using a published rubric.
• Provide brief comments on rigor, evidence use, and whether a standards body could act on the work.
• Participate in short panel calls where needed.

• Working knowledge in one or more areas: agricultural/livestock/applied economics; poultry production science; commercial poultry in African markets; standards development, regulation, or public policy; statistics/econometrics/quantitative methods; trade/customs/supply chain analysis; agricultural engineering/construction costing/quantity surveying.
• Honest and objective assessment of work.
• Ability to decline assignments without explanation.
• Confidentiality until publication.
• Declaration of interests required.
