Job Description

The WordPress Support Developer will work closely with the Support Lead and Chief Technology Officer, managing a structured backlog, solving technical issues, and ensuring WordPress websites remain stable, fast, and scalable for charities and nonprofits.

  • Job Location: Ikate, Lagos (Hybrid – three days office attendance)
  • Employment Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week)
  • Salary: 22M Naira per annum (Plus healthcare, insurance, and pension)

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Planning (10%): Work with the Support Lead and CTO in ensuring your backlog is always up to date; plan tasks from your Jira backlog to meet clients' needs quickly and efficiently; stay curious about and keep up to date with the progress of PHP and other web technologies.
  • WordPress Development (85%): Code in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript (ES6), and jQuery; write clean, efficient, and readable code; be an expert in WordPress development and the WP ecosystem; be experienced with Advanced Custom Fields; understand how to write efficient MySQL queries; use version control software such as Git (Bitbucket); have experience with command line environments; have proven experience integrating third-party APIs such as Salesforce or CiviCRM with WordPress; have integrated with payment gateways such as Stripe, WorldPay, PayPal, GoCardless; be passionate about coding quality and meeting standards; be able to independently debug WordPress/PHP code; be able to communicate technical aspects to non-technical people; be considerate of time and budget allocations.
  • Other (5%): Accurately track time spent and ensure efficient production; represent Fat Beehive well in all communications with clients.

Required Skills

  • Create, maintain, and update websites in WordPress.
  • Scope: Gather requirements, come up with technical solutions, and input into technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of WordPress inside and out: how actions/hooks work, how to extend functionality within WordPress.
  • Advanced Custom Fields and how they work.
  • Excellent English (written and spoken).
    Advantageous:
  • Experience with Twig/Timber or similar templating system.
  • Modern front-end JavaScript (e.g., React).
