The Backend Software Engineer will design, develop, and evolve backend systems and APIs, write clean and maintainable code, enhance existing 24/7 backend functions, collaborate with product owners and QA teams, provide work effort estimates, mentor junior engineers, and support DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Job Location: Remote (Nigeria)
  • Employment Type: Full-Time
  • Salary: $600–$700 per month (Gross)

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and evolve backend platforms and APIs.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code for applications and services.
  • Enhance and support existing backend functions, including those running 24/7.
  • Collaborate with product owners and QA teams during testing phases.
  • Provide work effort estimates and deliver within agreed timelines.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers on backend best practices.
  • Support DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization tools.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of scalable web architectures.
  • Solid understanding of Linux and JVM.
  • Experience with SOA and Microservices.
  • Proficiency in Clojure, Python, or other dynamic programming languages.
  • Functional programming experience with immutable data structures.
  • Familiarity with Django and Flask frameworks.
  • Knowledge of git workflow (essential).
  • Exposure to DevOps, Docker, and Build Pipelines (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Erlang/Elixir (a plus).
